Interested in ASLA Fellow? Recognizing leadership over time…
Fellowship is among the highest honors the ASLA bestows on members and recognizes the contributions of these individuals to their profession and society at large based on their works, leadership and management, knowledge, and service. The designation of Fellow is conferred on individuals in recognition of exceptional accomplishments over a sustained period of time. Individuals considered for this distinction must be full members of ASLA in good standing for at least ten years and must be recommended to the Council of Fellows by the Executive Committee of their local chapter, the Executive Committee of the ASLA, or the Executive Committee of the Council of Fellows.

ALL AGES WELCOME.
Even if you’re in the first few years of your career, Fellowship is an honor that recognizes impact over time — so now is a great time to start.
The BSLA Fellows Committee will start to meet in July 2026 to determine the chapter’s nominees for the class of 2027.
Who has impacted you?
Which landscape architects in our chapter have improved the profession at large?
Each year BSLA nominates four to six candidates for consideration by the ASLA Council of Fellows, and we seek your help in determining that group of individuals. These candidates are from our entire chapter, Massachusetts and Maine. Please note that nomination from the chapter does not guarantee elevation to Fellow.
Please consider suggesting to BSLA one or more qualified people for nomination as ASLA Fellow.
Self-nominations are welcome.
The person or people you recommend need to meet the ASLA eligibility requirements:
Be a current ASLA Full Member or International Member in good standing.
Have achieved at least 10 continuous years of full membership at the time of nomination.
Have demonstrated exceptional contributions over an extended period of time.
Have made a significant positive impact on the public and the profession.
Have received recognition for those contributions from multiple sources.
Click to view this list (2026) and this list (2025) of members currently eligible for Fellow nomination. Over 150 names!!! That’s why we ask for your input to create a shortlist of candidates every year. NOTE: These lists have mistakes. If you have ten years of continuous membership but your name is not here, speak up. Email the chapter office and we’ll check in with National.
People can be nominated in one of four categories:
Works
Leadership and Management
Knowledge
Service
Learn more about the national process of Becoming a Fellow. A first step is to be nominated by a local chapter. To that end —
Please submit the name(s) and a brief description of the impact your suggested nominee has had over time. Deadline: July 15, 2026.
This local BSLA deadline allows the BSLA Fellows Nominating Committee time to determine which candidates to put forth from the chapter, and then work with the four-six candidates in preparing their applications for the national deadline. The national process will re-open in October, 2026, with application deadline early 2027.
PLEASE NOTE:
We are fortunate to have an exceptionally deep pool of candidates in Massachusetts and Maine; many more people are qualified than BSLA can support in any given year. Our chapter is grateful to have well over 100 individuals who meet the ten year membership eligibility requirement! NOT all suggested people will be nominees.
We seek to put forth a range of up to six candidates who represent the professional range or our chapter, including nominees from both smaller and larger offices; with practices based in smaller cities and rural towns as well as the Boston metro area; and with varying approaches to the practice of landscape architecture, from academic to the public and nonprofit sectors to private offices.
The deadline to ASLA National for nomination submission packages will be January or February 2027. ASLA uses an online submission system. Complete information, including helpful hints and sample nominations, can be found on the ASLA Council of Fellows website.
Thank you for helping us develop a diverse list of highly qualified people for BSLA to consider nominating to ASLA for Fellow.
