Plant Sourcing Task Force

Mission –

The BSLA Plant Sourcing Task Force is focused on improving the feedback loop between plant growers, procurers, and specifiers for a nursery supply that works for all. We are a mix of landscape architects and professional landscape designers and are talking about topics related to plant sourcing, design, and maintenance. We hope to facilitate professional learning opportunities related to the planting process through knowledge sharing and meeting plants where they are at nurseries and built projects. We meet once a month on Zoom where we discuss our shared passion for plants and work together to plan and complete tasks of shared interest.

Want to get involved?

INVITATION TO LEAD A PLANT-FOCUSED INSIDE/OUT TOUR:

What: a site tour focused on planting and/or plant community design, installation, management, etc. We encourage tour guide teams to have members from both design and field teams speaking. Sharing of details and stories from the process is also encouraged! What worked well and has application elsewhere? What were you surprised did not work? What is unique about the project from a plant-perspective?

When: Summer/Fall 2025 (and hopefully ongoing...)

How do I sign up? Email april@ephemera-land.com and anna@crowleycottrell.com and they will follow up with you.

DO YOU DESIGN WITH PLANTS IN NEW ENGLAND?

This survey seeks to gain a better understanding of how you interact with plants in your work in an effort to improve the network and supply. Some questions are targeted to specific topics related to native plants. Some questions will help our nursery allies prepare for future grows. Some questions will help the BSLA Plants Task Force understand what designers want to learn and inform future educational opportunities and resource sharing. Most questions are optional, but all have value--please share as much as you can.

DO YOU GROW PLANTS FOR NEW ENGLAND?

This survey aims to better understand how native plants are being grown and supplied for projects in New England. It’s also an opportunity for growers and suppliers to inform the BSLA community about available resources for sourcing native plants and broadening awareness of what native and non-native plants are grown locally.
