Join us at the Landscape Creations barn for a summer evening in coastal Rhode Island. This relaxed, cocktail-style Open Studio invites New England ASLA members & the BSLA community to discuss construction and proactive landscape maintenance services and to tour Landcape Creations' operations at the farm. Building on themes introduced at FIELDDAY, we’ll explore the ongoing care of designed landscapes, drawing on insights from Landscape Creations’ Estate Care team. They will share what they’ve learned from stewarding built landscapes through changing field conditions, along with practical tips for managing client and budget expectations.
Landscape Management: Lessons from the Field
Landscapes are evolving ecosystems where shade shifts over time, plant health fluctuates, and environmental stressors demand constant adaptation. This Open Studios event shares insights from the Landscape Creations Estate Care team on how to steward these complex living environments. More than maintenance—which implies preserving the status quo—Estate Care is the proactive management required to help landscapes grow, thrive, and fulfill their design intent. We’ll share field-tested observations on what holds up, what “lower maintenance” landscapes actually look like, and how to set realistic client expectations—addressing questions like: What does a sound maintenance program include? What’s a reasonable annual investment? And, how can we collaborate effectively to support long-term success? Bring your questions — there will be lots of time for Q&A.
