7.0 AICP CM credits (many Sustainability + Resilience)

Special Session: Jardineros

At 1:30 and 2:45, Fieldday is pleased to offer screenings of Jardineros, a documentary by Michelle A. Franco that brings visibility to the lives, labor, and cultural contributions of Latino landscape workers who shape many of the environments we inhabit. Through personal stories and on-the-ground perspectives, the film offers a powerful lens on care, craft, and the often-unseen workforce behind landscape architecture.

Following the screenings, Michelle A. Franco and Jaime Andrade of Reed Hilderbrand—who is featured in the film—will offer reflections and engage in a discussion with the audience.

The Greenway / Harvard University

9:30am

The Greenway is a half-mile linear civic landscape forming the backbone of Harvard’s long-term vision for Allston—connecting Ray Mellone Park at the Honan-Allston Branch Library eastward through the Enterprise Research Campus toward the Charles River. Conceived as a complex, performative landscape, the Greenway integrates recreation, mobility, stormwater management, climate resilience, culture, and education while organizing adjacent urban design, infrastructure, and development. The tour will visit several sites along the evolving Greenway and also highlight the Greenway Handbook.

Fairsted Then + Now; A Curated Tour of the Olmsted Office

This tour is in two parts: a noon panel discussion plus a guided tour immediately before or after.

Option A - 11am guided tour followed by the panel discussion

Option B - 12pm panel discussion followed by 1pm guided tour

Explore the in’s and out’s of the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site while learning about the Olmsted Firm’s inner workings. A curated discussion will draw connections from the Olmsted Firm to the contemporary landscape architecture profession.

Guiding Generational Investments in Boston’s Franklin Park

2:30pm

Expanding upon the ongoing community engagement that formed the Franklin Park Action Plan, this on-site tour will guide participants through multiple locations within Franklin Park where significant City investment and public-private projects are being actively implemented. This tour offers a grounded view of how the Action Plan is beginning to shape change across Boston’s largest park.
