Skip Smallridge
We are saddened to announce the passing of Skip Smallridge
Founding Principal of Crosby Schlessinger Smallridge
It is with great sorrow that we tell you the news that our partner and dear friend, Skip Smallridge, passed away suddenly on August 25.
Skip was a talented urban designer who moved to Boston in 1974 to improve the public realm in New England and around the country. In the early years, he served as Urban Design Director for the Central Transportation Planning Staff and as Project Planner/Urban Designer for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, before joining Wallace Floyd in 1982 and founding Crosby Schlessinger Smallridge with us in 2003.
His work in Boston over the years ranged from developing a plan for Boston’s former Combat Zone while at the BRA to being the Director of Urban Design for The Big Dig, Boston’s Central Artery Project. Outside of Boston, he developed studies for transportation facilities and master plans for mixed use redevelopment projects around the country. His commitment has made a lasting impact on Boston and the other cities and towns in which he worked.
We worked with Skip for over forty years and will remember him as a talented, smart, funny, compassionate friend and storyteller who, despite living in Boston for fifty years, never lost his southern charm. We will miss him greatly.
