The Design Student Film Festival is an incredible event

showcasing student voices on art, design, and film. We believe in accessible design education

and the incredible perspectives that students have to share. The festival will take place on

April 9-11, 2026, in Boston, MA. We're currently inviting art, architecture and design schools

to submit student work to our inaugural 2026 festival.

The festival will offer:

  • Screenings at various venues including the famous Coolidge Corner Theater.

  • Prizes, awards + laurels (Best Documentary, Narrative, Animation, Audience Choice).

  • Lectures by designers and filmmakers, plus receptions and networking.

  • A limited number of fee waivers for student entries to encourage participation by students who may face financial barriers to entry.

CALL FOR STUDENT FILM SUBMISSIONS – Design Student Film Festival 2026

All art, architecture, and design students are invited to submit original short films—narrative, documentary, or animated—up to 15 minutes long. Your voice. On screen.

  • Deadlines: Early submissions: December 20, 2025. Standard Submissions: January 10, 2026. Late submissions: January 31, 2026.

  • Notification date: February 23, 2026.

  • Entry Fees: Early submissions: $15. Standard Submissions: $25. Late submissions: $35. A limited number of waiver codes will be available to support students facing financial barriers, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate. Please email for details.

Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled at a college or university and have an .edu email address.

  • Student films must be a minimum of 3 minutes and under 15 mins 01 seconds.

  • Prizes, awards + laurels (Best Documentary, Narrative, Animation, Audience Choice)

  • Lectures by designers and filmmakers, plus closing night party, receptions and networking with peers and design professionals.
