Landscape Architect / Project Manager
Highpoint is a multi-disciplinary land development consulting and design firm based in Dedham, MA. We strive to provide excellent service by staying true to our core values of team, integrity, professionalism, and work ethic. We work collaboratively with our clients, who trust us to support them and their projects from conceptual design through construction. We provide holistic, efficient, and creative solutions that are environmentally responsible, functional, and technically sound. Our company culture fosters career growth and provides unique and diverse opportunities within, and beyond, the land development sphere.
Position Overview
Our landscape architecture studio is growing, and we are interviewing for a full-time, permanent Project Landscape Architect with 6 to 10 years of professional experience.
This position is a project manager level, leadership role. You will manage your own projects from concept through construction while personally producing design and documentation and then follow through with your designs through construction. You will also direct production support resources and help mentor junior staff. You will be client-facing from the start, including preparing for and presenting to clients, allied professionals, and public officials. This position is built for a professional who wants real responsibility earlier in their career than a large firm can offer, without giving up the hands-on design work.
The studio, led by Director of Landscape Architecture, Michael Radner ASLA, works on a variety of public, private, and institutional projects throughout southern New England. Specific market sectors include mixed-use, multi-family, religious, retail, corporate, public spaces, and custom residential design. Our clients include real estate developers, private and institutional property owners, government agencies, and allied professionals.
We work closely with architects, engineers, and other professionals, and we value the carefully maintained relationships we have developed. Because our landscape architects and civil engineers work under one roof, our professionals see their work through design, permitting, and construction in a way few studios can offer.
We maintain a supportive, friendly office environment with flexibility to work both at home and in the office. The long-term goals of the landscape studio include building a portfolio of larger, landscape-focused projects, allowing the ideal candidate to grow professionally in tandem with our expansion and to share in the rewards of the company’s success.
Roles and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Landscape Architecture, the Project Landscape Architect will:
Manage assigned projects from conceptual design through construction, including scope, schedule, and budget awareness.
Lead and produce design work from concept through contract documentation, including CAD drafting and design using both Autodesk and Vectorworks Landmark software.
Lead due diligence research for projects, including review of local and state guidelines and regulations.
Prepare project presentation materials, including colored plans, 3D renderings, Adobe Suite graphics, and PowerPoint decks.
Represent the studio in client and design team meetings.
Prepare for and present at public hearings, including Planning Boards, Zoning Boards of Appeals, Design Review Committees, and Conservation Commissions.
Manage construction administration tasks, including on-site observation, submittal review, RFI responses, and maintenance of project construction administration logs.
Provide quality control for work performed by the firm’s production support.
Mentor and help develop junior design staff.
Support business development and client relationship growth alongside the Director of Landscape Architecture as the studio expands.
Qualifications
6 to 10 years of FTE professional experience in landscape architecture, especially site planning and development.
