Landscape Designer I
Perkins&Will is a global design practice driven by curiosity, collaboration and the belief that design can make a positive difference in people’s lives and communities.
Our Boston studio has an energetic, hands-on design culture - we’re only half-joking when we tell people to “run until apprehended.” We see the studio less like an office and more like a test lab: a place to ask questions, explore ideas, draw, make, test and learn from one another.
Our landscape and urban design teams work collaboratively across disciplines and scales, bringing together design, ecology, research and technical expertise to create thoughtful, resilient and engaging places.
We are seeking a Landscape Designer I to join our Boston studio.
This is an early-career role for a designer who is curious, collaborative and interested in developing strong landscape architecture skills from concept through implementation. You will contribute to projects at a range of scales while gaining hands-on experience in site design, grading, planting, materials, detailing, documentation and construction administration.
You will work alongside landscape architects, urban designers, architects and other specialists, contributing to site analysis, design studies, drawings, models, renderings and presentation materials. We are particularly interested in candidates who enjoy thinking at the site scale and want to understand how design ideas are translated into buildable landscapes.
Typical experience: 1–3+ years
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline is required. Experience with AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite and other design/visualization tools is desirable. Revit experience is helpful, but we are also interested in candidates with strong design and technical fundamentals who are eager to learn.
Salary range: $60,300–$77,000 annually
Please apply through the Perkins&Will careers site:
Please include a resume and portfolio demonstrating both design thinking and technical ability. We are especially interested in seeing site plans, sections, grading or planting work, construction documentation/details, built work, physical models and other examples that show how you think about landscape at the site scale.
A cover letter is welcome but not required.
