Cultivating Community Through Landscape Architecture

Please join the Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA) and Community Outreach Group for Landscape Design (COGdesign) for an evening of conversation, connection, and celebration of the power of landscape architecture to strengthen communities.

This special summer gathering will bring together landscape architects, designers, community partners, and advocates who share a commitment to creating equitable, community-driven green spaces throughout Greater Boston.

The evening will feature remarks from:

Diana Fernandez Bibea, Commissioner, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, who will share perspectives on community-centered public space and her vision for Boston's parks and open spaces.

We will also hear from the teams involved in recent COGdesign projects, including the creation of a new public park at Codman Burying Ground. Located adjacent to the historic burial plots, the park expands the site’s role as a community gathering space while honoring its history. We will also highlight other community-led landscape projects such as Dartmouth Green in the South End that demonstrate how collaborative design can create lasting neighborhood impact.

Founded in 1995, COGdesign has completed more than 150 projects across Greater Boston, connecting communities with landscape architects and designers through a participatory design process that expands access to healthy, vibrant green spaces.

Enjoy light refreshments, reconnect with colleagues, meet emerging designers, and learn how landscape architecture can continue to advance environmental justice, community wellbeing, and neighborhood resilience.
