Entry Level Landscape Architect
Our studio is seeking a full-time designer with 0-3 years of experience with strong design and graphics skills to join our talented team. Experience with AutoCAD, the Adobe Suites, Rhino, and InDesign is required. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong design and graphic skills. Responsibilities include:

As well, applicants should have experience with, and enjoy, a fast-paced work environment involving day-to-day management of multiple projects across a wide spectrum of types, sizes, and tasks. Experience with complex residential projects is strongly preferred.

Restoration Designer
Wilkinson Ecological Design (WED) is a New England-based team of experts whose mission is to restore the integrity and biodiversity of the unique natural ecosystems throughout New England. Position Summary
The Restoration Designer (RD) produces documentation for land management programs and restoration projects. The RD ensures that all documentation is conducted within the parameters of the work orders to meet client needs and regulatory requirements, and is consistent with WED’s mission and guiding principles. The RD assists with design guidance and delegation of design deliverables to junior design staff, including the ARD and Design Intern.
Principal Accountabilities
Working under the supervision of the Director of Design, coordinate with WED team to ensure projects are designed and implemented to achieve client goals, meet regulatory requirements, and maintain consistency with WED’s mission statement and guiding principles.
Conduct research, complete thorough and detailed site analysis evaluations, perform associated fieldwork and document field investigations in written, verbal and graphic form.
Accurately draft detailed plans, design documents and drawings in written and graphic form, including Land Management Plans, Restoration Plans, site programming diagrams, illustrative sketches, diagrams, sections, as well as construction sections and details
Research project background and requirements (gather and analyze GIS data, historic land use patterns, deed and regulatory research, and supporting scientific documentation) as needed
Assist Director of Design with permitting strategy
Lead Design team with Grant submissions, RFP/RFQ responses, and Sales design materials
Establish and maintain design department connections, processes, and workflows with Hanover satellite office
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and proposals
Share responsibility for support and mentorship of junior design staff
Communicate with clients, co-workers, and team partners
Attend local conservation commission or other regulatory meetings with potential of presenting
Keep all project files current and organized under WED filing system
Thoroughly and efficiently gather customer and project information and regularly update the CRM system as appropriate.
Provide administrative/CRM support as needed.
Develop and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with regulatory review agency representatives, including completing formal notifications to regulatory agencies as needed.
Maintain regular project documentation including within Sage CRM program and in all incident reports and safety logs, as needed.
Perform other duties or tasks as needed under the direction of the Director of Design.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Job Requirements
Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning or related field preferred coupled with 1+ year of relevant design experience in ecological restoration, landscape design or related field, or Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning or related field coupled with 3+ years of relevant design experience in ecological restoration, landscape design or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience with Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, Regulations, and Policies as well as local wetland protection Bylaws and Regulation and local Conservation Commission project review procedures.
Familiarity with landscape construction, ecological restoration, and bioengineering construction.
Knowledge of Cape Cod native plant communities.
Knowledge of invasive plant species and control/management techniques.
Microsoft Office proficiency.
Required Licenses:

MA Pesticide Applicator License (to be acquired within 90 days of hire)

Position Overview
We are in a growth mode and currently interviewing for a Landscape Designer/Architect, full-time hybrid; 0-3 years FTE preferred. Our newly constituted landscape architecture studio, led by Michael Radner ASLA, works on a variety of commercial, institutional, municipal, and custom residential projects throughout southern New England. Our clients include real estate developers, private and institutional property owners, government agencies, and allied professionals. We collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and a variety of other professionals, and value the carefully maintained relationships we have developed.
We are seeking an entry level landscape designer/architect to help guide projects from concept through construction. Working under the guidance of senior staff, you will contribute to all aspects of project development including design, documentation, client service, permitting, and construction phase services. We maintain a small, supportive, friendly office environment, with the flexibility to work both at home and in the office.
We have a healthy mix of project types including municipal, mixed-use, multi-family, religious, retail, life science, and custom residential design. We manage a steady stream of projects, small to large, resulting in a never-boring atmosphere which requires you to be light on your feet and to switch gears quickly. Goals of the landscape studio include growing the office by building a portfolio of larger, landscape-focused projects, allowing the ideal candidate to grow professionally in tandem with our expansion, and to share in the rewards of the company’s success. We work closely with our civil engineer colleagues within the office, but also with outside teams of consultants.
Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct site observations and assessments, including, but not limited to, preparation of site photo inventories and confirmation of existing site features and conditions.
Assist with due diligence research for various projects, including review of local and state guidelines and regulations.
Assist with conceptual design through contract documentation.
Assist with CADD drafting and design, including the use of both Autodesk and Vectorworks Landmark software.
Assist with preparation of project presentation materials, including but not limited to colored plan and 3D renderings, and PowerPoint decks.
Attend client and design team meetings
Prepare for and attend public hearings, including Planning Boards, Zoning Boards of Appeals, Design Review Committees and Conservation Commissions.
Assist with construction administration tasks, including but not limited to performing on-site observation, reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and maintaining project construction administration logs.
Qualifications

Director of Green Infrastructure
The Boston Transportation and Public Works Departments are seeking a Director of Green Infrastructure to lead the City's green infrastructure programs, policies, and designs.
Under the direction of the Chief of Streets or their designee, the Director of Green Infrastructure will collaborate across City Departments, particularly Environment, Energy, and Open Space Cabinet, and BWSC to lead the City’s efforts to plan, build, and maintain green infrastructure as part of the Mayor’s Green New Deal for Boston. The Director of Green Infrastructure will be responsible for defining the process and policy for green infrastructure to better incorporate it into the City of Boston’s project plans, regulations, and operations.
Responsibilities:
Develop policy frameworks for green infrastructure in City-led projects.
Collaborate with Environment, Energy, and Open Space to develop and implement Green Infrastructure policies, programs, and projects.
Educate the City of Boston staff about Green Infrastructure and climate resilience across a wide variety of departments, such as BPS, Boston Planning, and others.
Provides guidance to enhance the “Green Infrastructure Job Pipeline,” in collaboration with the Worker Empowerment Cabinet and other relevant City departments.
Represents the OGI in City projects, programs, and initiatives (e.g. Climate-Ready Workforce).
Revises existing regulations and develops new regulations and guidelines for green infrastructure implementation in private development projects.
Work with appropriate engineering and planning teams to update standard details and design guidelines to incorporate current green infrastructure best practice, including:
Establish a nomenclature for city of Boston Green Infrastructure
Draft city of Boston policies to increase Green Infrastructure implementation

Relaunch the City’s Green Infrastructure Working Group to serve in both an advisory role and to increase knowledge-sharing; manage the group to develop Citywide green infrastructure plan.
Oversee the creation of an asset database containing existing and future City of Boston green infrastructure.
Implement a Green Infrastructure maintenance program for existing and future Green Infrastructure, both for in-house activities and contracts.
Identify potential funding sources for Green Infrastructure construction, maintenance, and monitoring.
Collaborate with BWSC on stormwater policies and fees, and liaise with BWSC around implementation, and provide guidance to City leadership on stormwater policies.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
Five (5) years of environmental planning, environmental science and/or engineering experience, of which at least three years of experience must have been in green infrastructure. A bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in environmental science, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or environmental engineering may be substituted for a maximum of two (2) years of the required experience. Education toward a degree will be pro-rated on the basis of degree requirements completed.
NGICP certification strongly preferred.
Background in policy and technical/engineering highly preferred.
Ability to interpret and make suggestions on drafting policy, regulations, and legislation.
