Landscape Designer

VIEWSHED is a small, dynamic firm located in the coastal town of Yarmouth, Maine, 15 minutes north of Portland. We specialize in landscape architecture, GIS, planning, visualization, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Central to our approach is a deep understanding of the interplay between environmental sustainability, community needs, and aesthetic considerations. We seek to have a meaningful impact in the public realm while creating inspired spaces for people to live, work, and play.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Landscape Designer with 0–5 years of experience to join our team. This is a production-focused role supporting landscape architecture projects through drafting, graphics, and construction documentation. As a small office, we value team members who are resourceful, collaborative, and eager to develop their technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert hand sketches and design concepts into clean, precise CAD drawings

• Develop and refine graphics for plans, diagrams, and presentation materials, including CAD-to-Adobe workflows

• Support the production of Design Development (DD) and Construction Document (CD) sets, including layout, grading, planting plans, construction details, specifications, and cost estimates

• Participate in field work as needed

• Collaborate closely with senior staff across project phases

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• An accredited degree in landscape architecture (BLA, MLA, or comparable)

• High proficiency with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)

• Strong drafting skills and attention to detail

• Ability to independently manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required

Bonus Skills

• Experience with SketchUp / Rhino / Lumion

• Familiarity with planting design and plant identification

• Hand drawing or sketching ability
